She has arrived! Our beautiful baby girl joined our world on May 27th and life as we know it has forever been changed in the best way possible. I am so looking forward to watching her grow and explore the world and being there to love her every second of it. I have been lucky to have 2 wonderful friends in the photography business help me with some of her first photos in life since she arrived via an unplanned C-section. Jared of Jared Tennant Photography http://www.jtpics.com/ came and photographed her in the hospital and got some of the most unforgettable images of her that I will treasure forever! I was also lucky enough that Erin of Pure Wonder Photography http://purewonderphotography.com/blog/ came and did an amazing newborn shoot of her last week and I couldn't be more happy with the results. Needless to say she will have quite the gallery wall of photos by the time she is 1 year old! :)

As we are in the Final Countdown (Thanks Cara - I still sing it!;) for the arrival of our little girl my mind has obviously not been on blogging. However, I was lucky enough to get to do some 1 year old photos of my friend's little man who I did Christmas cards for this past year. I must say, getting to watch a kiddo grow up from behind my camera is such an honor. I'm so happy with how his photos are turning out I can hardly stand it. I posted this one on my Facebook page, but I just love it so I'm posting it here. The beginning of 2011 has been a busy one and with being pregnant I've definitely fallen behind on my blogging, BUT I'm so happy to share my photos of my friend's sweet baby girl with everyone. This was my 1st newborn shoot where the baby slept 95% of the time. I'm in love with so many of these images and with this sweet baby girl. I'm sure when my little lady arrives in May they will be BFF's for sure!

I can't believe 2010 is coming to a close. What a busy, exciting year it has been in all aspects of my life. From getting married at the beginning of this year, to returning to teaching, to pursuing my photography, to becoming a Great Aunt, to finding out we are having a baby girl of our own this week - 2010 is definitely one for the Wright History Books. As I look back through my photos this year I see the growth I've made and am seeing all the new places I want to be able to take myself with my photography. So here's a walk down memory lane...

Despite a cold front that blew in the night before this little lady was a trooper, even though she was bouncing around in the cold to stay warm I was able to get some great shots of her! 1 Year of Wonderfulness...

A year ago on Halloween my 2nd niece arrived and what a wonderful addition she has been to the family. A personality that is as cute as she is and two parents who love her beyond words can describe. We had her 1st birthday party yesterday which had a Hansel and Gretel theme (she's Gretel) and it was amazing. I'm not sure my brother and sister-in-law will be able to top this party on a yearly basis!!

These are the photos prior to her walk down the aisle and to me it is a bittersweet walk with your father on your wedding day. I am so glad I got these images of them! A father's love knows no bounds - I have multiple shots of Dad holding her dress up so it won't drag on the ground and I just love them - what a good Dad!

I was able to get so many great shots of these two! They were amazingly cooperative and even when asked to get close it was no problem. I was truly impressed b/c I think my brother and I would have pushed, shoved, or thrown a rock and hit each other in the head about 5 minutes into a photo shoot at their age.

So I was playing around and took these shots of my sister-in-laws wallets (see previous post for website) and LOVED all the different colors and patterns in it. Though they look similar they are in fact different in each one. I love the how they seem to really *pop* in the picture!

****ALSO**** I have also been so lucky that I have a group of people lined up to take photos of! I really love seeing people through the camera lens and catching those sweet little moments and making them last a lifetime.

So I tried my hardest to get Little Miss M to be happy for all these photos, but the only thing that would bring a smile was a Fruit Puff. The minute she had eaten it, down came the tears. It was so sad - thankfully she's a very happy baby normally so I didn't take it personal, plus Mom spotted some new teeth that want to come in so I'm thinking that's what was going on. Needless to say, I did get some good ones. She's turning into such a big girl who preferes standing to sitting and walking to crawling. It's been a blast getting to play with her this summer! Oh, and P.S. Bottles are for babies - she much prefers a sippy cup!!

So I had the pleasure of finally working with a teenager, and perhaps it was because I knew her prior to shooting and loved her mom to death that it went so well, but she really knocked it out of the park for me. "M" is a natural in front of the camera and I have no doubt if she ever truly wanted to get into modeling it would be a piece of cake. These are some of the close ups I have of her and I have more to come of her showing off my sister-in-laws amazing bags as well!

I decided to make a nice collage of more of my shots from Lil Miss G. She did SO awesome for her photos, if you don't count the whole wetting the bed incident it was a complete success! I absolutely love how smiley and happy she was for the whole thing. I do have to say, the tongue out photo is definitely one of my favorites though! Isn't it amazing how you can capture something for a lifetime that only took a mere second when it happened?? Man, I LOVE photography! :)

So my awesome family got me a new flash for my upcoming birthday and I LOVE it! Whenever I don't have a model to test a new shooting mode or new accessory for my camera I use the one I live with, my super Pug, Pugsley. As you can see she was absolutely thrilled to be helping me out, she didn't even lift her head for most of them. Poor dog, she's had cameras flashing in her face her whole life. Anyways, I'm very excited about all the new possibilities this new flash will bring to my photos! (All of the ones I've posted have minimal editing done to them.) The last one is my favorite!!

As I venture down the road of PHOTOGRAPHY and discover what it will become in my life I always think, "Is what I'm doing good enough? Would people want me to take their photos? Do people like the photos I've taken?" I started this blog b/c my career came to a crossroads and I wanted to put my photos out there for the world to see. I would love for it to be a place where I hear what people think about my photos as well as a place for me to post them. Flowers and an Elephant...

I don't know how I've never not seen a Passion Flower before, but now that I have I am truly amazed by them. I have never seen a flower like this and thought that me happening upon it in Florida was a rarity. Turns out when I get back home to Austin a friend posts a picture of hers in her backyard - in Texas. Who knew??

There was something about the little elephant planter that caught my eye as well. I should have bought it but I'm not sure how I would have gotten as a carry-on on my flight back home! Happy Friday to all!

Where's Everybody Going...

I am on the hunt for longhorns to photograph and on my journey I came across some goats and a donkey. Upon pulling over to the side of the road the animals decided that I didn't look too exciting so they all walked away. So I took a few pictures of them all walking away and called it a day. It wasn't until I pulled this picture up on the computer that I discovered a little something extra in the sky ... does anyone else see it??

I decided to do something different for this post and take one photo and process it five different ways. The differences are subtle, but that's what I love about photography. You can take one photo and interpret or see it in so many different ways. So the end result here are the 5 Buddhas that look like they are sitting in a row almost transforming from one to the next. I think it looks pretty cool myself.

I had the pleasure of spending this past weekend in Panama City, FL for a friend's wedding and was lucky enough to hit the beaches before the oil did. Sadly though, I heard the oil made it to shore on Sunday, the day we left, which is awful b/c the beaches were gorgeous. The water was so clear and the sand was almost white. I loved the time I spent there and wanted to share a few of the shots I took.

Sunflowers Make Everything Better...

I mean seriously, how can you look at a sunflower and go, ugh, I hate that thing. I was driving home from taking some photos of my sweet Great Niece and I saw this patch of sunflowers, so I pulled off to the side of the road and took a few. It wasn't until I uploaded them that I noticed the bee on the one flower - neato!

Lil G is starting to interact more and she was not having a good time with the photo shoot for some reason, who doesn't like a constant flash in your face every 3 seconds???, but I was able to get a few that I think are pretty darn cute!

Come On Ride The Train...

So I had to drive up and down this one road I normally am not on a bunch last week and on the second pass I noticed the train cars and the massive amounts of graffiti on them and thought - "Hmm, those might make cool photos." So I went home and grabbed my camera and went back and shot these. It's kind of like a Where's Waldo of curse words b/c honestly I didn't notice them (mainly b/c I had trouble reading them) in person, but once I got home and pulled them up on the computer they started appearing like magic! Like one of those 3D posters from 2000 that you had to stare at and then suddenly an image appeared - I was never able to see those things by the way - but yes, the bad words are here and there. The sky was really blue yesterday so I think it came out great in the photos. Also, if anyone can identify what the red animal is in the one photo I'd love to know - I think it looks sort of like a bird - the car says "Texas Wild Life" but it could be something totally inappropriate and I just can't see it. Sorry if it is!!

Sidenote - I had a random fear that as I was taking a shot of this car that was open that a person was going to pop out of it and yell at me for interrupting his/her sleep. Is that weird?

One more thing, one more thing! With this new layout if you right click on a picture and select Open Link you can see the pictures bigger - took me a second to figure that out!

I have officially been married for slightly over 4 months now and already I am missing the beautiful beaches of St.Lucia that we visited on our honeymoon. What do all of those things have in common? Not much, other than I found them all on a visit up north. Now the flowers, fish, and gnomes I did see. As for the Tree People, check out the last photo and tell me where you think they might be hiding. ;-) I should do a post on all the signs I've taken pictures of that make me wonder who made them and who placed them where they are, I am often greatly amused by them.

These are the taps at a wonderful pub we visited while in Chicago where my hubs was called out for not being a local by mis-pronouncing the 312 beer as "Three Twelve" vs. "Three One Two" - it was actually really good beer and is also the area code for the city - dope. Mi Casa es Su Casa, and Say What...

So a gal I know has her own blog: http://singleblondeinthecity.blogspot.com/ and she was asked to name 4 blogs she enjoys and suprisingly my baby photo blog was one of them. So thank you to her for thinking of me! I was asked 10 questions so people could learn more about me, so here are my answers:

1. If you could give the world one piece of advice, what would it be?

Don’t give up on your childhood dreams – they may be exactly what your life is missing.

2. What would we find in your refrigerator right now?

Lots of food & my one addiction – Diet Coke. What DO they put in that stuff??

3. If money were not an object, what would you do with your life?

Travel! I would also help any and all of the people in my life that may need it. Seriously, you can’t take it with you!

4. What is your idea of a hot, romantic date?

Ooohh, dressing up in a fancy little dress, a great dinner with good wine, and if I can get the hubs to go dancing – some dancing and live music.

5. What is the one beauty product you just can't live without?

Chapstick, plain old blue label Chapstick. I am lost without it.

6. Describe the perfect sandwich.

Thanks to my high school career as a Subway sandwich artist I have to say the perfect sandwich to me is wheat bread, hummus, spicy mustard, pickles,cheese, black olives, lettuce, tomato and any other veggie that there might be laying around. It will give you the worst breathe ever, but dang it’s good. Sidenote – Subway doesn’t make this sandwich…but Which Wich does!!

7. When was the last time you tried something new? What was it?

I’m constantly trying new ways to photograph with my camera and thanks to the many cookbooks from the wedding we try a new recipe each week!

8. What makes you smile?

My husband, my family – ESPECIALLY my nieces and nephews and great niece (Baby & Grown Up) - they can put a smile on my face the minute I see them or a picture of them, my wonderful friends & all the ridiculous memories we have together, and then of course, Modern Family – that not only makes me smile, but often makes me laugh like Julia Roberts.

9. Favorite beverage on a hot, summer day?

Water, ok, who am I kidding, a Corona - made only better if I am by a body of water while drinking it.

10. What is one of the best gifts that you have ever received?

One of the best gifts I ever received wasn’t a necessarily an actual object, it was a compliment from one of my former student’s mothers. Her son was truly one in a million and was written off by not only his parents but many of his former teachers b/c of his behavior, but when he got to my classroom I focused on his strengths (which was a challenge, trust me) and discovered that this kiddo was brilliant. At the end of the year his mother thanked me for loving her child enough to find out all the wonderful things he could do. Truly priceless.

I am so excited about editing the rest of these. My wonderful fabulous friend who actually pushed me and encouraged me to do photography came down and let me photograph her 3 wonderful boys. They are a handful and a half, each with their own distinct personality that makes a morning with all 3 of them a very exhausting morning! I don't know how she does it, but she does - she's a great Mom to all of them and I really enjoyed spending time with them again. I knew I wanted to look at this photo first b/c as I was taking it I knew it was going to be something special. To me it's just perfect - I can't wait to get the rest done for her!

Love this sign on South 1st. Love it so much we had some of our engagement photos taken in front of it. I decided to swing by and shoot a couple of photos of it on my way home yesterday. I guess I'm in a "vintagey" mood b/c I've been editing my shots recently to look that way. Perhaps it's like Van Gogh's blue period? Wright's "Vintage" period??

My Little Wonder Pug...

I have to admit I find my dog hilarious and due to the fact that I currently don't have any human babies of my own I have taken many a picture of my little fur baby. I swear that she truly will pose for me - it's hilarious - I get the camera out and she suddenly becomes very obedient and will do most of what she's told. This could be because she often gets a treat when I take photos of her, but I'd like to believe it's because in her little Pug brain she believes she's a SUPERSTAR! Pots, Plants, and Old Soda Machines...

So in my now more free time I'm going all over town and taking photos of places that have always seemed interesting to me and I just haven't had the opportunity to stop at. This week it was Pots & Plants off of Bee Caves & Loop 360. I called ahead to ask if I could come take photos - and guess what? They were so awesome they told me to come on down. Isn't it amazing how nice people can be when you ask politely?? I think we sometimes assume too often and then things go wrong - when if you had just asked you may have gotten the answer you wanted. Anyways, I had a great time there and would like to live there if possible. There is just something about florists/nurseries that when I'm there - I don't want to leave. Everything is so colorful and pretty and I just wander for hours. Loved it. Here are some of my favorites from there!

Toddlers Are Tough (To Photograph!)...

I have been so lucky that some of my friends have taken me up on the "Can I practice taking pictures of your baby please? I'll give you the photos for free & we can hang out and chat while I'm taking them!" offer, that I've gotten to experience photographing toddlers for the first time. My friend's little man is absolutely adorable and did really well with me following him around for an hour - especially since he had just woken up from a nap when I arrived. I got some great shots, but I also got a million blurry ones. I will have to read up on how to photograph a moving target...that moves often and at a moment's notice! Anyways, here are a couple I love, and to any one else - the offer stands to all who want it! (Until I become super mega famous from doing this - then I'll have to charge you!) :)

Great Little Gymnast...

So the little bro had baseball the other weekend and the little sis had gymnastics today. Not suprisingly the ones of her bouncing on the trampoline were a blur!! I've got to figure out how to get the shots when the subject is moving like crazy - I've still got a lot to learn. I did get some cute ones though when she stood still for me though! As a former kid gymnast I look forward to seeing where she goes with this - she did great today!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...

Got to catch one of my little brother's baseball games this past weekend and got some great action shots of him. He almost knocked it over the fence - I couldn't believe it! (You can even see the ball coming in on the above photo.) I also got some of another up and coming baseball star - look for him in the 2030 World Series! :)

Coolest Place Ever...

My husband and I found one of the coolest parks in Austin where peacocks roam free. It was so neat to see them literally all over the place, and the best part was that they were extremely tolerant of people so I was able to get really close for some AMAZING shots! I am really impressed with myself because the below photo is completely untouched - took it off my camera & put it on the computer and this is what I got. I am beginning to feel very comfortable behind the camera, so if you want photos taken please let me know - I've got the time to do it and it won't cost you a thing!

Also managed to capture this little guy while he landed for a brief second... I'm a BIG believer in BUTTERFLY MOMENTS...and I know I'm going through mine right now!

A Little Couch For A Little Lady...

This is an old couch from my playhouse my Grandfather built me when I was younger. He was amazing at woodwork - I'll have to dig and find those old photos of the playhouse b/c it was pretty phenomenal. Anyways, I was thinking about the furniture he made for it and realized that my niece and great niece are the perfect size for this furniture right now. SO, this Mother's Day my wonderful Mom hauled it down from the attic and a photo shoot began. I know that I need to post some new faces on here, but when I'm related to such cute ones it's hard not to share!

Art in Austin...

Austin really is a city that embraces art and all forms of it, here are some images I got from around town. Even our airport is cool and has these great guitar scultpures - and I have seen them around downtown as well . I only took pics of 2 of them b/c I only had my camera phone on me so the quality isn't as great as it could be.

I have a list of other places I want to hit up that I hear are phenomenal for taking photos, so since I'm finally home for a month I hope to get out there and explore all that Austin has to offer! I also threw in some from a great little restaurant we happy houred at that had a nautical theme to it on South Congress.

Harses, Harses, Harses...

Due to Meg Ryan singing "Jingle Bells" in "Sleepless in Seattle" I now think of her face when I see horses & then subsequently begin repeating "Harses, Harses, Harses" in my head...if you've seen the movie as many times as I have, then you'll get it. :)

Anyways, I found looking through my photos I have a handful of horse ones - funny since my 1st experience on one was in Feb. of this year on my honeymoon in St.Lucia at the age of 31. Funnier still since I was raised in Texas and after most Texan babies learn to walk they are then put on a horse. What can I say, I'm an original! The collage feature I use to put multiple shots together kind of cut off some of these photos, but I still think they are pretty good.

I've also gone through more of my Chicago photos and was so excited to find that a handful of my photos were pretty darn good as is, so added them above & am proud to say, "LOOK MA! NO RETOUCHING!" P.S. Does anyone know what kind of trees these are below? I thought they were so pretty!

Oldie but Goody...

I know my Facebook friends have seen this one, but I do love it so. I was walking through the streets of New York City in the summer of 2007 and noticed there were sailors right in front of me. It was a perfect photo opportunity so I snapped it as I was walking behind them. I was then on the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and low and behold another sailor. Turns out they were from the British Navy - my dad a former US Navy fighter pilot pointed out the letters on the one sailor's cap to me. I guess I've always had a soft spot for the sailors -especially now since I'm married to a former one. ;)

On a side note I haven't been able to get out and take new photos due to my day job, but the next few weekends I have some of my first bookings so there will be more newbies up soon!

The 2nd City...

I am now on my 2nd trip to Chicago and am lucky to have brought my handy dandy camera. My first collage is of the more known sites of the city, the 2nd one is the little things I saw that caught my eye. I really enjoy the bike, the bird, and the bench in the 2nd collage. I did very little editing to those and I was excited to get those shots with my camera true to form. I'm here until Thursday so I hope to capture a few more of the great things this city has to offer.

I was going back through my Easter photos and found these that I had to share. Little Miss M is quite possibly the sweetest, happiest baby I've been around & she is PERFECT in front of the camera! (This may partly be b/c her Dad takes at least 100 photos a day of her so she tolerates it when others do it!)

For some reason only a 5 of my 200 something photos I took in Santa Fe downloaded so I could edit them. I have other shots that I really want to get in and look at, but for now, here are 4 of them. We went to Santa Fe on a spur of the moment trip back in December and enjoyed a chance to play in the snow. Hopefully I'll get those other photos up soon! I totally love the totem poles and Kokopelli in the top photo.

..they're is really nothing better! You can't help but smile when you see them. I was able to photograph Lil Mama and Baby G again this past weekend and got some great shots of them. The weather cooperated and despite some of the horses who decided to crash our little photo party - we had a good time. What can I say? We live in Texas and these things happen!

One of the coolest apps out there - Shake It Photo - takes photos from you iPhone and turns them into awesome "Polaroids". Here is a brilliant collage of everyday things or not so everyday things in my life. (No comments on the amount of sugary pieces of heaven that appear often in the pictures - I'm a sweetaholic & will someday die happy with a cupcake or ice cream in hand - life is short!)

I am beyond lucky that I'm related to these adorable faces! Over the Easter weekend is when I really got to photograph all of them. I think each shot is special in it's own way & really captures their tiny personalities. I especially love Miss M's pose (totally done on her own) in the last one - it always makes me think of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video - though it could also work well with, "Stop in the Name of Love".
